The second gathering. The community came back organized — and found a formal home under the 256 Foundation.
WHAT WAS HEATPUNK 2026
If 2025 was the spark — the first time this community had ever been in the same room — 2026 was proof it stuck. The Heatpunks came back organized: a website, a forum, and a full year of building behind them.
For the first time, HPS introduced hands-on workshops — not just talks and panels, but sessions where builders solved real problems together. More hashrate heating systems hit the demo floor than ever before, more polished than 2025's. And the first-ever Heatpunk Innovation Award was handed out to the system that stole the show (more on that below).

WHAT HAPPENED AT HPS 2026
HEATPUNKS FOUND A FORMAL HOME
At HPS 2026, Hashrate Heatpunks became a formal community project of the 256 Foundation — the 501(c)(3) nonprofit building the open-source Bitcoin mining stack. Summit host Tyler Stevens was named president of the Foundation's board. The community now has an organizational home and can apply for the Foundation's grant program.

The inaugural award went to the Snorkel × Hashrate House hot tub — a Snorkel cold-plunge/hot tub heated by a Bitcoin miner, built in partnership with Hashrate House, who built the immersion mining-heat element. It stole the show on the demo floor.
WORKSHOPS & TOPICS
HPS 2026 introduced hands-on workshops for the first time — dedicated sessions where builders tackled real-world problems together instead of just watching talks.
Architect One on One with TESSERE
Attendees worked one-on-one with leading firm TESSERE to outline industry standards: certification roadblocks, client education, and hybrid-system specifications.

Led by Exergy's Dylan, builders integrated miners directly into Home Assistant — local automations triggered by thermostats, solar production, or energy prices. Zero cloud required.

Direct access to Canaan's team — builders gave feedback on firmware flexibility, thermal design priorities, and hardware modularity to shape home-scale ASIC development.

Tether's open-source Mining SDK team explored adapting their Holepunch-based P2P platform for thermostats, circulator pumps, and district heating systems.

Walked through Exergy's real-world installation: a water-cooled Bitcoin miner heating The Space's radiant floors via a hydronic loop, and how to replicate boiler logic atop hashrate heating.

Feb 27–28, 2026Pre-summit ski day and a public happy hour ran Feb 26. The summit itself ran two full days, with an evening activity each night — a RiNo beer garden dinner and a hot tub BBQ.
